TASK 3: PROCEDURAL WRITING INFOGRAPHIC
Step 1: Pick a task.
Decide on a task that you would like to explain. Pick something that interests you. Be sure to pick something that is not too complicated, but also not too simple.
Step 2: Write out the steps
List the steps involved in completing the task. This is called procedural writing. You should have 6-8 steps. Record you notes using a tool of your choice: pen and paper, Explain Everything app, Pages app etc.
Step 3: Create your infographic
Use an app of your choice to create your infographic. Choose from the following: easelly, Pages, Explain Everything, Drawing Pad, Comic Life.
Remember the following features:
- One page
- Title
- Simple text, 6 - 8 steps
- Font, size of font
- Images to explain each step
- Colour
- Layout
- Visually appealing, and catchy
Step 4: Check the Success Criteria
Compare your final product against the success criteria to ensure you have met the requirements of the assignment.

TASK 2a: "MAKING THE RIGHT DECISION" STORY WRITING
Step 1: Watch a video
Everyday your life is full of decisions you need to make. Click here to start thinking about many of the decisions you make every day. (from TeachHeath)
Step 2: Class Brainstorm
List situations and issues that occur at school that require decision making. You will choose ONE of these to write a story about.
Step 3: Review the Elements of a Story
Click here for a fun video that reviews the elements of a short story. (from Flocabulary).
Step 4: Individual Brainstorm
- Choose ONE school related issue or situation that requires decision making that you would like to write about
- Think about what the consequence would be if you made the wrong decision, and what the consequence would be if you made the right decision.
Step 5: Write an OUTLINE for your story. DO NOT WRITE THE FULL STORY!
- Use Explain Everything, Notability, or Keynote to write your outline which will include the five main elements of a story.
- Your outline should have 5 slides, one slide for each of the elements of a story:
- CONFLICT - What is the school related issue or situation that requires making a decision?
- SETTING - Where and when is your story going to take place?
- CHARACTERS - Who are the main characters in your story? Keep it simple: aim to have 4 or fewer. For each character, list two character traits. For example: honest, greedy, selfish, kind, etc.
- PLOT - What are the main events that will happen in your story? What will be the consequence of making the wrong decision? What will be the consequence of making the right decision? Think about how you will be able to tell both sides of the decision making choice: time travel, super powers, choose your own adventure, etc.
- THEME - What lesson do you want the reader to have learned? For example: treat others as you would like to be treated, everyone deserves to be treated with respect, honesty is the best policy, etc.
Step 6: Write your story in Comic Life or Creative Book Builder
